Quick answers about BaZi, the Chinese zodiac, the five elements and feng shui, plus how Lost Lantern's free tools work.
What is BaZi?
BaZi (八字, "eight characters") is Chinese four pillars astrology. It reads the year, month, day and hour you were born as four pairs of characters, a heavenly stem and an earthly branch each, and looks at how the five elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) balance in your chart.
How can I get a free BaZi reading?
Lost Lantern's free BaZi reading at lostlantern.shop/pages/reading builds your four pillars from your birth date (and time, if you know it) in about two minutes. It shows your Day Master, your five-element balance, what you have been carrying lately and how many bright months you have in 2027.
What is my Day Master?
Your Day Master is the heavenly stem of the day you were born. It is the "you" in your BaZi chart, one of ten types such as Gui Yin Water (The Rain) or Jia Yang Wood (The Tall Tree). You need your exact birth date to find it; the free Lantern Reading calculates it for you.
What is my Chinese element?
Your birth-year element comes from the last digit of your birth year: 0 or 1 Metal, 2 or 3 Water, 4 or 5 Wood, 6 or 7 Fire, 8 or 9 Earth. Your Day Master element is more personal and comes from your birth day.
What is the Chinese zodiac animal for 2027?
2027 is the Year of the Fire Goat (丁未, Ding Wei). Lunar New Year falls on Saturday, February 6, 2027. In BaZi the year changes at Li Chun, the start of spring, on February 4, 2027.
Which zodiac signs clash with Tai Sui in 2027?
Tradition says the Goat (its own year), the Ox (direct clash), the Dog (punishment) and the Rat (harm) take extra care in 2027. The Horse, Rabbit and Pig pair well with the Goat year.
Is 2027 a bad year to have a baby?
No. The saying "ten goats, nine incomplete" is folklore and is not part of classical BaZi. A person's chart has eight characters, and the birth-year animal is only one of them.
What is the five-element luck quiz?
It is a free 60-second quiz at lostlantern.shop/pages/luck-block that shows which element is blocking your luck in 2027 (Water, Fire, Earth, Metal or Wood) and what tradition says clears it.
Can I check my home's feng shui for free?
Yes. The free Home Luck Map at lostlantern.shop/pages/home-map lets you map your rooms or upload a floor plan, place your bed, desk, sofa, mirror and stove, and get a score for love, wealth, career, health and calm with free fixes.
What is the difference between the free reading and the Personal BaZi Reading?
The free reading shows your Day Master, five elements and a 2027 overview. The Personal BaZi Reading ($49) is about 20 pages written from your full chart, including Day Master strength, ten-year luck cycles and your 2027 in detail, emailed within 48 hours.
Is Chinese astrology accurate?
Chinese astrology is a cultural tradition used for reflection and timing, not a science. Lost Lantern presents it for reflection and fun, and nobody's life is decided by their chart.
Who is behind Lost Lantern?
Lost Lantern was started by a Chinese Singaporean who grew up around BaZi, the Chinese zodiac and feng shui, and explains them in plain English for readers who are new to them.
